Well, 3 1/2 weeks later and we are back in Arizona. I have a lot to blog about, but tonight I just wanted to remember a little of our dinner conversation tonight.
Andrew: "I don't wike cauwifwower." Pause. "What is cauwifwower?"
Andrew using the word "becept" in place of "except".
Natalie asking "Why?" every time (and I mean EVERY time) anybody did or said anything.
Natalie: "James is touching my mooster seat!" (she says mooster instead of booster...I love it! That is one I hope she doesn't grow out of anytime soon.)
Natalie out of the blue: "Daddy, I wuv you." She really missed her daddy.

James through their eyes
We were driving in the car and James sneezed three times. I said bless you and after the third sneeze Andrew exclaimed with a big smile, “James bwess youd his pacifier out of his mouf!.” And now when Natalie sneezes she says, "I just had a bwess you!"
Natalie saw James in this:
and said, "James is a cow boy!"

Things you may not know just by looking
At our house we eat “camelope”
we put on “sun scream”
and we eat “Rice Kristies”.
We turn the "sprinkles" on to water the lawn
Natalie prays for her "poopy eye to feew betteh"
and Andrew gets "bad at you" if you tell him no.

We love to eat "pocipos" when it's hot
and drink "chommamilk" daily.
One of us goes to the "bafroom"
another reads "Dancy Dancy" books

and another doesn't seem to stop talking but we can't make out a single word yet.
Just some of the reasons I love this stage!

Conversations with children #1
Natalie and I were out and about today while Andrew was at preschool. Just before we picked him up, we ran into Subway and grabbed some sandwiches. Natalie was holding her sandwich bag and said, "This spells my name, mom." "What does it say?" I asked. She replied, "Natawie John Garner."

Boys can be very sweet
I was sitting by Andrew this afternoon and he looked at me and said, "Mom, I wuv you." He touched my hair and said, "I wike your hair." "Your hair is..." then there was a pause as he searched for the appropriate word..."beautiful."
Andrew, you made my day! What a love.

Yep, she's two
What I hear from Natalie 20 times a day (at least):
"i do it myself, me"
I guess she wants to make sure we didn't misunderstand "myself" so she adds the "me" on the end.

The Sweeter Side
Some of the sweet stuff that I've heard and seen lately:
Andrew: "I wuv pwaying wif you mom."
Andrew: "I want to tell you a secret..." (And his favorite secret these days is "maybe we can go to Disneywand tomorrow!")
Andrew got into the car after preschool and rummaged around in his bag. He pulled out a cracker sandwich and said, "Natowee, this cwacker is for you!" He had brought an extra cracker from their snack time for her.
Andrew: "mom, thanks for making potatoes for me." Said after he has thrown a fit for at least 20 minutes and refused to eat the potatoes and then is having a hard time getting the fork with the minuscule piece of potato on it into his mouth.
Kids walking in parking lot holding hands--each with sunglasses on.
The other day Natalie asked me where her sunglasses are--they were on her head.

Lost in Translation
On the way home from church I told Andrew that I had "poked my head in" during Primary and saw him singing Scripture Power. There was silence after I said that and then in a confused, questioning voice Andrew asked:
"Poke your head in?"
Oh, I've laughed a lot about that one.
