Sometimes I don't mind when my 5-year-old
gets me in the middle of the night
because he wet the bed.
Especially when I tuck him in again and he gives me a sweet smile
(lips closed, eyes crinkly)
and says so very sweetly,
"I love you mom."
I really don't mind that at all.

My husband calls my five year old, "the Dry fetus" because he still loves just being around me. In the middle of the night, he will come in, wrap both of his arms around my neck and fall asleep immediately. He always says in the morning, "I was just missing you Mom." Like you, I don't mind at all.
i always get a kick out of the big smile my boys get when they are dry and warm again in the middle of the night. it makes the daily washing of sheets not so bad.
I always say it, you're a great mom Erika. Laughing, loving and appreciating the little things. Your kids will always love you for that. I've enjoyed catching up with you. Your children are so beautiful and sweet. I loved the story about Andrew and his sockless poetry reading! Hey, where did you end up putting him in school? I cannot believe he is in kindergarten. Where did that little guy go? All grown up as I can see. He's now the big brother of a growing family, and it seems like yesterday when you were pregnant with him. Time flies.
Love you E.
ahhh. good thing they are so sweet in the middle of the night! Indi won't use her bathroom during the night, instead she uses ours...and she always comes by to tell me she loves me on her way out and to ask if she can come back and snuggle me before I get up. True to her word, she is back around 6:00 to share in our morning snuggles!
So tender, so sweet. I feel it too, this fleeting chance to do for them what they are quickly becoming able to do for themselves. Oh those crinkly sweet smiles. How COULD you mind? :)
It does make it so much better...I agree.
Peru? How? So wish we could jump in your suitcase!
